Hardwood Windows

The grain of hardwood trees is usually denser, straighter and more subtle than softwood, which is the main reason they are more expensive than the softwood windows. The West African hardwoods such as Sapele and Idigbo are knot free and have a smoother tighter grain and are also much more durable than softwood.

Basswood

Basswood is a desirable ornamental tree known for its fast growth and longevity. It occurs from the most northern to the most southern portions of the eastern United States and as far west as North Dakota and southward. Basswood can grow in sites ranging from nutrient poor, rocky ridges as high as 4,900 ft elevation to well-drained low woodlands. Bees are especially attracted to the fragrant flowers . They make a delicious honey from the flowers that is considered a delicacy by beekeepers and honey connoisseurs. The cream colored flowers dangle from the middle of a leafy bract. They bloom in May and June.

Oak planks are the second lowest level of plank used in the Construction skill. Each Oak plank gives 60 experience points (so if an item uses two Oak planks, players will gain 120 Experience). They are mainly for the second grade of furniture, out of four grades. Most oak planks come into the game from the Varrock Sawmill. Oak logs taken to the Sawmill Operator are made into oak planks at a fee of 250 coins per plank. Oak logs cost 61 coins each and Oak planks sell for 554 coins each, so a profit of 243 coins is made per plank, or 6804 coins per trip. The fastest way to make planks using the Sawmill involves the Lumber yard teleport. The teleport will take the player directly to the sawmill. A glory or dueling ring can then be used to bank.
